The Golden Moon offers a universe of accommodation; hosts offering spaces can compete on the same platform as resorts in order to grab the attention of travellers planning their adventures. We are breaking the boundaries that restrict hosts; cost is one factor; guest management is another. Our platform is unique and, we hope, 5-Star.

We Remove the Boundaries

At the heart of our vision is bring all types of accommodation together which allows hosts to reach a new market, compete with hotels directly and reach new customers in a developing environment. For guests, we aim to inspire freedom by giving them a universe of choice – access to all types of accommodation from one portal, allowing them to create their own personal wonderland.

Cost of platform use

For many there is a cost boundary: Airbnb charges 3.6% and 9Flats.com an enormous 15%. In contrast, Wimdu.com charges hosts 0%. While this appears attractive, it is the guest that pays; Wimdu imposes a remarkable 18% service charge to guests. It is clear that the result of these services includes a loss of profit whether in commission fees or with customers having to pay a higher cost. Since September 2018 there has been no business activity on the platform.

Our 5-Star Service…

… offers you value for money from the start. Our 2.5% (plus VAT) rate includes an ID check on guests which includes email and phone verification and their presence across social media. There is a possibility for 50% reduction on Service Fee based on Individual Agreement. Why? Because we are building a Global Community of travellers and hosts that share our vision to travel well, enjoy new adventures and create personal wonderlands.

Removing Boundaries does not mean removing the safety net to retain profit. Our approach to verify each new customer’s ID, phone and email address, and social network presence provides a more secure invironment for your home, and reduces instances of damage or inappropriate behaviour.

All you have to do is enter your desired destination in to our easy-to-use form, the type of accommodation you are looking for and the number of guests and our system will present you with ideal places to stay.

Removing Boundaries

When you are presented with accommodation from your initial search results, you can book straight from there, or filter your results by a variety of options to explore further. We don’t act as a barrier between you and your host! Once you have found your desired destination, you can request to book a host’s space by clicking the Contact Host or Request to Book buttons. We are passionate about building a community of guests and hosts that want to journey together; to help with this, we ask you to complete your Golden Moon profile which is sent to hosts.

How to pay

When you are ready to book, you will be asked to pay by credit or debit card for your booking. Your payment will then be taken only once your host has confirmed your booking. The Golden Moon holds your payment securely until you have checked in. This is to protect against fraud, keeping everybody safe.

The Golden Moon is supporting consumers by making it easier for hotels to get in front of travellers wanting an amazing experience and compete with others fairly. Unlike the online platforms, we have chosen to offer hotels a 0% rate.  We charge only a 1.5-3% card processing fee. The agreement takes place at the registration date and lasts for 12 months. It is possible to extend the initial term beyond the 12-months referred to in the Individual Agreeement.
